2023 IGH Lacrosse Updates

After a few years of unbalanced and unsatisfactory boys co-ops with other youth programs, Inver Grove Heights Youth Lacrosse Association is committed to rebuilding our  boys youth association with our community as the focal point because IGH/Simley has a longstanding history of developing young men and sending players on to play in High School, College, and Seniors. Athletes from all communities are welcome to play for Inver Grove Heights, but it is because of our successful past and network of proven coaches/players involved that we are going to take the lead from now on.

Our goal for our boys is to field U6, U8, U10, and U12 teams as soon as it is feasible with our numbers. U14 players will be guaranteed a place to play at Simley High School during the Spring and Summer, therefore no registration will be available for U14 via IGHLA.

We need your help to create a better Lacrosse experience for our children. While we are actively recruiting through Community Programs and Try Lax Events, we need help from current/interested players to recruit and fill our teams for the Spring and Summer. There will be separate registration periods for Spring and Summer in order to be flexible for kids who play other sports, or just want to give Lacrosse a try for a season.

Our Age Group Requirements to Create Teams:

U6's - We can function with any amount of U6 players. They will be run through Lacrosse skill related games and teaching by our staff of coaches in the Spring and Summer.

U8's - U8's play 4v4 without a goalie in the Spring and 5v5 without a goalie in the Summer, so our goal is a team of ten.

U10's - U10's play 5v5 with a goalie in the Spring and Summer, so our goal is a team of twelve.

U12's - U12's play 10v10 in the Spring and Summer, so our goal is a team of eighteen.

Boys LAX Equipment News

2022 brings a new equipment rule effective January 1, 2022, assuming enforcement is not delayed by USA Lacrosse.

THE RULE

In short, and assuming the rule is not suspended due to product chain shortages, all shoulder pads used in boys lacrosse must meet the NOCSAE standard ND200 on January 1, 2022.  This means unless you’ve already purchased a ND200 compliant shoulder pad, you must purchase new shoulder pads for your male player.
